Sam CS stole our attention through his Vijay Sethupathi-Madhavan starrer Vikram Vedha which took him to greatest heights. Later his first movie Pruiyadha Puthir featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathri in lead roles; this movie was also appreciated for the background score. Soon after this film, the music director has been leaping with huge projects in his hands. One among them is significantly his debut in Malayalam cinema, which is to happen through Mohanlal’s Odiyan. Sharing the great news with this project, Sam CS says, “Soon after the release of Vikram Vedha, I was approached to compose background score for many movies including Bollywood projects. But I didn’t have faith in such things, where I wanted to give my complete work and not on just BGM. But at this point of time came the narration of Odiyan. This impressed me vividly and gave more ideation to give different music by the time of narration itself. The film belongs to be a specific time backdrops and is a thriller, which has lots of prominence for music. Apparently, we have made use of some ancient instruments like 6-ft long Bamboo one, which is played by an only old lady in Kerala.”
