Actor Jayaram is known for is his versatile acting and he has played many roles in Tamil cinema his combo with Goundamani is still remembered by everyone. Now, Jayaram's son Kalidas has also started acting in film, Oru Pakka Kathai which has Kalidas in the lead role is yet to be released. Kalidas is now joining hands with another ace director. In the year 2016, Karthik Naren debuted as a director through the film Dhuruvangal 16. There was an overwhelming response for this film. After this, he directed a film titled Naragasooran which has Aravind Swami, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sandeep Kishan, Shriya and Aathmika. The post-production works of this film are in the final stages.

Few days back, Karthik Naren titled his new film as Naadaga Medai. Ron Ethan Yohan will be composing the music while Sujith Sarang will handle the camera. Sujith Sarang is also in charge of editing. The film is to be produced by Knight Nostalgia Filmotainment. Now talks are being held with the popular hero Jayaraman’s son Kalidas for the lead role.

Jayaram Subramaniam (born 10 December 1965), better known as Jayaram, is an Indian film actor who predominantly acts in Malayalam films, and at times in Tamil films. He is also a chenda percussionist and mimic artist.[5]

Jayaram made his debut in Padmarajan's Aparan (1988). He was cast again in Padmarajan's Moonnam Pakkam (1988) and Innale (1989). He was able to create a mark for himself in the industry with films such as Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1989), Thoovalsparsham (1990), Nagarangalil Chennu Raparkam (1990), and Georgootty C/O Georgootty (1991).

Jayaram's association with director Sathyan Anthikad was also notable. He won his first Kerala State Film Award, a Special Jury Award, for his performance in Sathyan Anthikad's Thooval Kottaram (1996). He went on to win another Kerala State Film Award, and has won four Filmfare Awards South. In 2001, he won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award, Special Prize award, for his performance in Thenali (2000). Post-2000, his performances in the films One Man Show (2001), Manassinakkare (2003), Veruthe Oru Bharya (2008), Bhagyadevatha (2009), and Seniors (2011) are memorable.

In 2011, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution towards the arts.
