Vikram Prabhu's previous release Neruppu Da was his own production and it was released last year. Director Ashok Kumar has already mentioned that the film is based on some real life inspirations in his very own life, where he resided at housing board and seen the challenges of fire brigades. Though it portrayed the difficulties faced by the fire fighters, the movie did not do well in the box office. Vikram Prabhu's next venture Pakka has shaped up well and now the movie has cleared the censor board with clean U certificate. Produced by D Sivakumar and directed by SS Surya, the film is a commercial entertainer that revolves around a Rajinikanth fan and Dhoni fan. Talking about the film, the director says, "The film will be an out-and-out entertainer. It’s been shot in a festival backdrop. It’s all about how Vikram Prabhu, an ardent Dhoni fan, and Nikki Galrani, a Rajini fan, fall in love with each other." Bindu Madhavi, who recently won the hearts of many through her stint in the reality show Bigg Boss, plays the other female lead in the film. She plays Anand Raj’s daughter in the film.
