Soon after Theri success an announcement came that Vijay is going to act again in Atlee’s next directorial and from then Vijay fans and cinema lovers were waiting for Mersal. Thenandal Studios Limited has produced the movie and a big star cast like Samantha, Kajal, Nithiya Menen, Sathyaraj, SJ Surya, Vadivelu and Kovai Sarala has been featured in Mersal. Like expected, the movie had a big opening on this diwali and people flooded to the theater to witness the true entertainment. Though theaters like PVR and Inox were shutdown Mersal has collected more than 1.5 crores on the very first day, this said to break the records of Vivegam. As usual Mersal had few difficulties in release, but breaking all the odds Mersal came to theaters with a bang. Mostly getting positive reviews from the public and the critics the movie is said to gross bigger amounts and said to break records. But after the release of the movie, a dialogue about GST was criticized by the BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu. Since a big wave of criticisms against Mersal has been aroused by Tamil Nadu BJP, Vijay and the producer Thenandal Studios Limited has decided to delete the scenes that are against the government schemes and plans. But, on the other hand Kaala director Pa. Ranjith has said that there is no need of removing the scenes if censor board has approved the scene and Ranjith has extended his support to the Mersal team. We must wait and watch what happens next.
