Actor director Pandiarajan is one of the most celebrated Tamil film personalities. His first movie Kanni Rasi was an eye opener to us. It spoke about the miseries of a girl who is said to have Sevvai Dosham. The story was very much intense that after this film these superstitious beliefs were subjected to debate. And the impact of the movie gave recognition to director Pandiarajan as an expert film maker who can handle social evils. Actor Prabhu and Revathi in the leading roles did their best, after a series of flops Prabhu’s career got changed after Kanni Rasi. His previous six movies did not do well but Kanni Rasi helped him to revive back and prove his ability as an actor. Such an opening to Prabhu was given by Pandiarajan’s Kannirasi. The music for this movie was composed by Isaignani Ilaiyaraja. His music and songs were huge hit, that every sole in Tamil nadu murmered the songs at that time. Usually Ilaiyaraja has a habit of composing songs on his own and he is very confident about his music that his music will fit in for the situations or it cannot be changed as he has given the perfect bit of music for the movie. But, for Kanni Rasi Ilaiyaraja was moved by the story and the way of making so he took concerns and suggestions from Pandiarajan as he is the director to compose the music. And Pandiarajan was the only director who had this hounour in the very first movie; Ilaiyaraja did what director Pandiarajan asked for it was a biggest privilege given to any new director at that time.
