Arun Prabu Purushothaman a debutant director directed the movie Aruvi with faces is produced by the makers of Maanagaram. The movie has been previously screened few film festivals. Director Arun tells, the story of the movie revolves around a girl, Aruvi, who cannot differentiate people as good and bad and showers her love on everyone. "Her adventures and misadventures are what the plot is all about. Though it is a socio-political drama, Aruvi is a truly mixed-genre film because it also has comedy and songs, and is made for the mainstream audience," he says. The director revealed that they spent eight months casting the film. And for the lead role they have auditioned almost six hundred girls and finally zeroed in on Aditi Balan. "Aditi is an advocate. We did a screen test and shot for a day with her and a few people who had made it to our final list before roping her in," says Arun. Lakshmi Gopalswami, who has done Malayalam and Kannada films, is the only cast member with acting experience.
