Akshay Kumar will be seen in a biopic based on the life of the Indian hockey player Balbir Singh. The film is titled as ‘Gold’ and it is directed by Reema Kagti. Akshay Kumar will start working in ‘Gold’ by July or August this year. The team was looking for a female lead for a powerful role, and they have currently chosen Swara Bhaskar. She will be deciding to act in this Sports – Drama, once the script is narrated to her. Interesting news is that Kunal Kapoor will essay an important role in the film. It seems the actor has started his hockey training already. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani will be producing this film under their banner ‘Excel Entertainment’. ‘Gold’ is planned to be released on Independence Day in 2018. Balbir Singh played an important role to win three consecutive Gold medals for India in Hockey during 1948, 1952 & 1956 Olympics. An official confirmation is expected from the team regarding the cast and crew.
