Vishal’s Kaththi Sandai was postponed in its release date for a while due to the prevailing cash crunch. Earlier it was slated for November 18 release and then pushed for December month when the makers went silent on its release date. Now the official and final announcement has come from the team that it will hit the screens for this Pongal, 2017. It is likely to clash with Vijay’s Bhairava at the box office which is also eyed for Pongal’s release. This is the third time for Vijay-Vishal movies to have a clash. For Pongal 2007 - Pokkiri and Thamirabharani were released, Diwali 2014 - Kaththi and Poojai and now for Pongal 2017 - it is Bairavaa and Kaththi Sandai. In the first two instances, Vijay’s movies saw a blockbuster status over Vishal’s films. Who will rule the box office this time has to be awaited and seen. The December month is also packed with movies like Vishnu Vishal's Maaveeran Kittu, Vijay Antony's Saithaan and Venkat Prabhu’s Chennai 28 II. Produced by Madras Enterprises, the theatrical distribution rights of Kaththi Sandai in Tamil Nadu were bought by Jaykumar of Cameo Films India. Touted to be an action mass entertainer with commercial elements in it, Tamannaah plays the leading lady with Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu and Soori for comedy track. Jagapati Babu and Tarun Arora are playing the baddies.
