Actress Shriya Saran who is badly in need of a hit is said to be having a challenging project ahead in her kitty. She will be playing the role of a queen in Gautamiputra Satakarni, the historical drama in lines of Rudramadevi. On September 11 marking the occasion of the lady’s birthday, the makers let out the first look poster of the film which had Shriya in an intense look. Looks like she will be playing a performance oriented and heroine centric role as Vashisti Devi, the Satakarni's Queen in this flick. The shooting is currently progressing at a brisk pace at locations in Madhya Pradesh with her and the rest of the cast like Hema Malini who plays the Emperor’s mother and Nandamuri Balakrishna who plays the titular role as the main protagonist. Directed by Krish of Kanche fame and jointly produced by Saibabu Jagarlamudi & Y.Rajeev Reddy on First Frame Entertainment banner, the story revolves around the 2nd century ruler Gautamiputra Satakarni. This is the prestigious 100th film for the Balakrishna and hence much efforts are being put in to make it a successful film. Kabir Bedi will be seen as the antagonist and the film is slated to hit the screens on January 12, 2017.
