The Ulaganayagan actor Kamal Haasan can be said as a gem of Kollywood and to add a feather to his crown, he will be conferred with the prestigious ‘Chevalier de L'Ordre Arts et Lettres’ Award by the French Government. The Order meaning ‘The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’, is a part of France’s premier award, the Legion of Honor. The award will be given to those who contribute significantly to the arts of France and throughout the world. He will be invited further for a specific occasion at France where he will be honoured. This Order has three ranks – chevalier (knight), officier (officer) and commandeur (commander). The previous recipients of this award include Sivaji Ganesan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Nandita Das, Satyajit Ray and Shah Rukh Khan. Speaking about this proud moment, the actor had thanked his family members and friends who had been supportive throughout his career. It is notable that previously in this year Kamal was also honoured with Henri Langlois Award from French Government for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Cinema.
