The Hindi remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini, as Begum Jaan was earlier reported to have Vidya Balan in the main female lead. The movie is a women-centric subject and was critically acclaimed under the direction of Srijit Mukherji. The film originally had 11 women playing the lead roles like Rituparna Sengupta, Lily Chakravarty and many others. In the remake version, besides Vidya Balan, the makers have roped in few other renowned ladies on board. Gauhar Khan who was seen in Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year is the selected one along with Pallavi Sharda and Priyanka Setia of Hawaizaada fame. Model turned actresses Flora Saini and Poonam Rajput along with popular TV actress Ridhima Tiwari and Ravija Chauhan are other additions. Singer Ila Arun who was seen in movies like Jodha Akbar will also join the cast. The male leads include Rajit Kapoor, Vivek Mushran, Rajesh Sharma, Pitobash, Ashish Vidyarthi and Sumit Nijhawan. The movie’s plot runs around a brothel institution located at West Bengal before India’s Independence and how it gets affected by the Partition of 1947. Majority of the filming will run at West Bengal and few places at Punjab, Jharkhand and Delhi. The same Bengali director Srijit Mukherji will be helming the flick and will be produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt. The shooting is likely to commence from mid of June month with the entire team members on board.
