Vikram Kumar’s sci-fi venture 24 produced by Suriya has crossed the 100 crore mark becoming the second film for the actor after Singam 2 to enter the 100 crore club. Thanks to Suriya’s flawless acting in all the three roles and especially the Athreya character through which he delivered absolute professionalism. Saranya who played the mother for him had been a pillar to the story as it moves along. The co-stars in the ensemble cast like Nithya Menon and Samantha in the female leads have also done justice to their roles. Released on May 6 in both Tamil and Telugu, it had over 2150 screens worldwide to garner the whooping collection. Another opportunity for 24 is that the 3 day weekend on the first week of May had been free to rule the box office solo. However it took almost 3 weeks to touch the mark unlike Theri which entered the 100 crore club in just a week. The distributors of Studio Green who bought the theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh/Telangana was very much confident before the release that the movie would gross 200 crores soon. Hope the distributor’s dream comes true in a couple of weeks.
