Nayaki is the second film for actress Trisha to play the ghost role after the horror comedy Aranmanai 2. Directed by Govi and produced by Trisha's manager Giridhar under Giridhar Production House, this flick is of retro horror comedy genre with Trisha in the main lead. The movie’s plot is set to be running in 1980s at AVM Studios. The other members of the cast includes Ganesh Venkatraman as the male lead and Manobala, Kovai Sarala, Jayaprakash, Brahmanandam, Sushma Raj and many others in supporting roles. Made as a bilingual in Tamil & Telugu simultaneously, its release date has been recently revealed to be June 10. Sri Thenandal Films has bought the theatrical rights for distributing the film in both Tamil & Telugu. The previous weekend to this has many major releases like Iraivi, Oru Naal Koothu and Velainnu Vanthutta Vellakkaran on June 3. Though Nayaki has got a clean and solo weekend release for 3 days, it will still have to struggle to garner the collections at the box office.
