The autobiographical film of the controversial Malayalam author Kamala Das will be done by Vidya Balan. She was known for doing another biography on Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture and won the national Award for it. 

This movie directed by the Malayalam maker Kamal will be a bilingual made in Hindi and Malayalam. The plot runs over 3 parts: her teenage when she was married at 15, her writing works and then her religion conversion from Hindu Nair to Islam.

Kamala Das was known for her literature works stressing on explicit female sexuality and this bold role would be well taken only be Vidya Balan. An autobiography book was also written by herself on the name ‘The Story’ and the movie will focus on that book too.

Vidya Balan is an Indian actress. She has established a successful career in Bollywood and is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards, and five Screen Awards, and was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014. She is known for portraying strong female protagonists and has been acknowledged in the media for pioneering a change in the concept of a Hindi film heroine.

Vidya aspired to a career in film from a young age, and had her first acting role in the 1995 sitcom Hum Paanch.
