Begum Jaan is an upcoming movie for director Mahesh Bhatt which is an adaptation of a Bengali film Rajkahini from director Srijit Mukherji. The movie runs around the protagonist, a brothel madam and other 11 lead females whose place of stay was divided between 2 countries after the Partition of Bengal in 1947. The Begum role was originally played by Rituparna Sengupta in a classy way in the Bengali version. Being a powerful actress in performance, Vidya Balan is signed in to play the leading lady in the Hindi version. It is anticipated to roll out by June and 8 other ladies are yet to be roped in. We can witness Vidya Balan playing the harsh, rude feisty character and even smoking Hookah. It would be the most challenging role in her career, shares the director.
