Piku released in May, 2015 starring Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone was a commercial hit in Bollywood. There were rumours that it will be remade in Telugu with the star actor Venkatesh and Samantha as his daughter. But there were no confirmation for many weeks that made the rumour went with air.

It has now surfaced up again that Venky is showing interest in the remake. So Daggubati Suresh Babu, the movie producer, father of Rana Daggubati and brother of Venkatesh is in talks to buy the legal rights of Piku. Suresh Babu had already produced Drushyam with Venkatesh recently. If it goes well, we could expect some announcement on the same. But will Samantha be included as his daughter in the comedy drama is not yet known.

Daggubati Venkatesh is an Indian film actor known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema. In a career spanning twenty seven years, he starred in sixty nine feature films. He has played a variety of roles in Telugu cinema and a few Bollywood films. He has received seven state Nandi Awards, and five Filmfare Awards for best acting.
In a career spanning three decades, he had many super hit films. His films like Bobbili Raja, Chanti, Preminchukundam Raa, Raja, Kalisundam Raa, Nuvvu Naaku Nachav, Lakshmi etc. turned out to be blockbusters, thus establishing him as a leading actor of Telugu cinema.
