Visaranai receives a standing ovation at Venice Film Festival

Visaranai

Visaranai produced by Dhanush and directed by Vetrimaaran has been filmed at the ongoing 72nd Venice Film Festival on September 9th night in the Orizzonti Section (meaning New Horizon). It is the first Tamil movie to enter the esteemed Film Fest. The team has arrived at Venice, Italy and even the auto driver Chandran was with them. Chandran in the press meet at Venice said that Visaranai is the voice of a common pain which is heard to the whole world now. The movie is actually based on a book ‘Lock Up’ written by Chandra Kumar from Coimbatore who was locked up in Guntur for 13 days in a little cell. It is about the police brutality on four innocent common men when they were beaten to accept a crime that they did not commit. Samuthirakani has excellently portrayed the policeman character and the movie has received a standing ovation after the screening.
