Vada Chennai, directed by Vetrimaaran and featuring Dhanush and Andrea is a story covering three decades with Dhanush in an unseen role. The director describes it as a dark film about the behind the known facts of North Chennai more or less like the Pudhupettai that Dhanush has donned before. Importance was given to the minute details of the characters that the director feels could not be covered in the single flick. The Bollywood Ace director Anurag Kashyap has even supported and encouraged Vetrimaaran to go on for the second part. Anurag is all praise for Vetrimaaran after watching his highly successful film Aadukalam. They have also been in contact since G.V.Prakash Kumar composed music for his Gangs of Wasseypur and have discussed that writing the script is important and making it into a franchise or a trilogy lies on the written script.
