The most sought after director Bala is coming up with his next venture Tharai Thappattai with Sasikumar and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar whose story is based on the ancient folk dance Karakattam after Paradesi in 2013. Isaignani Ilayaraja is uniting with Bala after their work in Naan Kadavul in 2009 and also marks the 1000th film for the Maestro! The shooting was started off in 2014 and Shriya Saran, Shravanthi Sainath (Life of Pi heroine) were auditioned for playing female lead for Karakattam dancer. The story is based on the life of Nadaswaram and Karakattam dancers and after a bit of shooting, the progress was paused. Recently, the actress has tweeted that a song shoot was helmed on July 18. It seems that she had lost 10 kgs of weight to fit this role. Pragathi Guruprasad, the finalist in Airtel Super Singer Junior is making her debut as the hero’s sister. The Kannada actress Kaavya will make her debut in Tamil through a supporting role and Suresh, Producer from Studio9 Media Works is playing the antagonist role.
