For the past thirteen days shooting schedules were on halt as the TFPC and FEFSI were having little disagreements among them. Major movies like Kaala, Mersal, Sandai Kozhi, Velaikkaran and many other movies were stalled because their clash. So there were continuous peace talks to negotiate, FEFSI leader RK Selvamani was trying to negotiate with TFPC board members.

So, TFPC demanded to remove the technician union in the FEFSI. This demand has been accepted by the FEFSI and they have decided to remove the technician union from the FEFSI.

In a day or two Kaala, Sanda kozhi movie works will resume.

FEFSI taken down their strike and works resume normal

FEFSI general body meeting was conducted in Chennai yesterday. Director RK Selvamani was the one to head the general body meeting yesterday. They discussed the about the TFPC stand against the FEFSI. After the meeting was over RK Selvamani addressed the press, “If Tamil film industry is considered to be one of the most prestigious film industries our FEFSI employees hard work is soul reason for it. Our FEFSI members have given up many concessions to make Tamil film industry better.

When ever TFPC was in trouble we have been supportive, but I am afraid that TFPC’s current decision will destroy FEFSI. TFPS has announced that they are going to bring in employees outside FEFSI which might cause many confusions and trouble FEFSI which is really pains to us. Since their actions are devastating FEFSI will go on strike indefinitely from today. All shooting schedules must be canceled. Until TFPC let downs their decision our strike will continue.” said RK Selvamani. This has affected many movies that are currently in progress.

FEFSI strike has affected many movies

The FEFSI Union and the Producer Council had not come to terms with each other, so film shoots have been kept on hold. This indefinite strike led by FEFSI has affected many thousands of people who depend on the daily wages for their livelihood. FEFSI Union member RK Selvamani talking about this issue to the press:

“It is clearly not the best situation right now and I did not want this press meet to happen but it has. We had certain demands and these do not seem to be received by the Producer Council. Approximately 40 film shoots across Tamil Nadu have been stopped at the moment and as of now this strike is indefinite.

I can clearly understand that, many thousands of people depend on these daily wages for their livelihood but I am not sure about how things are being received. The reason behind this strike is a demand for an increase in wages and there is no proper communication happening right now between the Producer Council and FEFSI. I really hope we arrive at a solution really soon so that all the shoots can resume and normalcy can be attained. The Tamil industry has seen numerous problems already this year and I hope this issue ends on a good note very soon.”
